「あなたは、次の英文を、どのくらい「読む」ことができますか?」というアンケートを見て機械翻訳頼みの俺が思い出した話を載せておきたい。
この日記開始の数日前(2004/11/07)にどこかに書いた文章を上げる。(長文注意/原文のリンクは全部解除しました)
経済／経済学＠いちごびびえす内「ＩＴ革命煽るバカ、貶すバカ」のこのへん(#110-111)。
iTunes Music Storeには「日本の音楽はながれない」が「日本に住んでいても利用はできる。」(#110)という意見に「日本人のクレジットカードでは買えない」(から面倒だ)という突っ込み。
…それ以前に、高卒DQN(って何?)の私の前には禁止的非関税障壁「英語」が立ちはだかっててどーにもならないんっすけど。m(_@_;)m
あのへんほかの知性や教養あふれる皆さんには英語なんぞ屁でもないんでしょうけど、日本の"知的財産権"企業がある意味無茶な規制を敷ける最大の理由は、この「英語(その他の外国語)」っつー非関税障壁があるからだと思うぞ。
メロディ聞く分には英語だろうが日本語だろうが気にならないんですけどね。はぁ。orz

これで何を試したかというと、日本語の方をわかりやすくすることで(20年前のできの悪かった)機械翻訳の出力結果が多少マシになる、というそれだけの話なんですが、元文を書いた当時はネタをぶちこわしたくなくて日本語をカイゼンしたらどうなるかは書きませんでした。
最初の文のままでは今の機械翻訳でもさすがにコケるでしょうが、英語ができなくてもこの方法で世界向けの発信が、多少正確さを欠くとしても、可能になるはずです。(注意:責任は持てません。)
